Mine had flaws, but I fixed it

I purchased this item to complete my headphone collection that includes different styles. So far, I've got open-back headphones using all three major driver technologies (dynamic, planar magnetic, and electrostatic). And closed-back headphones of the same types. Plus in-ear plugs of the same types. When I choose headphones, I tend to get those are generally well regarded but not the most popular choices. For example, the open-back planar magnetic headphone I chose was the Audeze LCD-MX4. I think the Audio-Technica ATH-R70X fits well. It's also my first high-impedance headphones. I don't think I'm very sensitive to sound differences from headphones. This can compete with other headphones I have, although it may lack some clarity. However, there was a problem with the unit I received. I bought a cable with a 4-pin XLR plug and found the sound was unbalanced. I returned the cable and bought another one. It worked initially but the same issue occurred again. I took the headphone apart and found there might be a short between the two cables connecting the socket and the driver. I fixed it by making sure the ends of the cables don't touch. I think it works well now. I think there wouldn't have been such an issue if they just used a single piece of PCB instead of wires connecting two PCBs. The good thing is that the unit is designed to be taken apart easily. Eight screws and not a single clip, and you get the driver and 25mm socket.

Great reference headphones

I have never used reference headphones and now that I started creating music with them I can appreciate all aspects in a true to life manner. The base is not exaggerated and the mids and highs are crisp and clear. You can actually pinpoint areas needing adjustments; all with ease. Recommended!!!
